Washington Unified, Charter Schools Close due to COVID-19

News Release from Washington Unified School District-3-13-20

 

We are officially announcing the decision to close all Washington Unified (WUSD) schools to students effective Monday, March 16, 2020 through at least Friday, April 3, 2020 for the health and safety of students, staff, and the community of West Sacramento. 

To date, NO student or staff has tested positive for COVID-19.

These are extraordinary times and information is shifting by the hour. This decision is the result of an extremely complex process, but we believe strongly that it is the proper decision to ensure the continued health and safety of our students and staff. We are grateful for the support and guidance from the WUSD Board of Trustees, California Department of Public Health, Yolo County Department of Public Health, and Yolo County Office of Education. Most of all, we appreciate the patience and cooperation of our families and community.

 

Here’s what you need to know:
  • Meals will continue to be provided for our students at 9 sites. Click here for details.
  • Students should stay home and minimize social contact as much as possible.
  • Children are not a high-risk group for serious illness however, they can transmit the virus to those most vulnerable.
  • WUSD is offering resources and activities for students to use during their time off. The resources and activities are for all grade levels of K-8 will be available at school sites when meals are picked up. High school resources and activities can be available through online formats or Google Classroom.
  • WUSD Staff - please make sure to call or email the Human Resources Department to make sure your contact information is up to date (address and phone). Human Resources will be in contact with employment-specific updates in the coming days.

After School Programs

ASES KidsZone/Club West after school programs will be unavailable.

City Preschools

Learning Ladder and Discovery preschools will be closed Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3, 2020. Closure information.

Washington Middle College High School

WMCHS classes will be moved to an online-only format starting Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3, 2020. Read the closure announcement.
